caffeinated philosophy

The Caffeinated Design

An excellent design should speak for itself. Boldly. Loudly. It’s a form of art. It should make you feel something. A great book cover can sell a reader before they even pick it up. Non-football fans might not be able to tell you who won last year’s Super Bowl, but they could probably repeat the lines from a memorable ad. In today’s media storm, you only have a few seconds to capture your audience’s attention. So, make it count.

The Caffeinated You

Behind every graphic, image, element, there’s a face, a brand, a company, an individual, or a team, that has a unique product or service to offer. That uniqueness should shine through any consumer-facing visual communication. Your message, your voice. That’s what I aim to communicate in my designs. That’s why I first focus on understanding the you behind the scenes, so your audience can, too.

If it seems like we’ll be a good fit, we can discuss the project more in detail and come up with a plan that works for both of us.

After the official contract is signed, I will get started on workshopping an initial draft. Once the draft is approved, I can finalize your caffeinated design!

FAQ

  • a.      Logos

    b.      Branding elements

    c.      Social media graphics

    d.      Flyers, brochures & business cards

    e.      Print design (book covers, magazine spreads, etc.)

    f. And more! Feel free to inquire about your specific project if it’s not already listed here.

  • The design process consists of 1) a discovery consultation, in which I learn more about your brand/business/voice, 2) creative brainstorming/research, which could entail exploring your brand’s previous or current design style, as well as research on industry trends and competitors, 3) an initial draft, with up to (3) potential variations, 4) revisions (up to 5 major revisions will be included), and 5) delivery of the final design.

  • The price will depend on a handful of key factors: the scope of the project, the timeline, the budget, and the intended use of the design. The price will be discussed and agreed upon prior to the commencement of the project. Payment will not be collected until the project is complete, after which an invoice will be sent to the client. The fee for a cancelled project will be half of the agreed-upon price.

  • This depends on the scope of the project. For instance, a logo design may only take 1-2 weeks, while a social media campaign or brand element package may take up to 6 weeks.

  • Up to 5 major revisions are included. A major revision might be a rearrangement of the composition, for example, or a complete change of the color scheme. Minor revisions, such as adjusting font size or type, tweaking spacing, or correcting small details, are unlimited within reason.

  • Final designs will be delivered in one or more of the following versatile formats:

    1. High-resolution PNG (with transparent background)

    2. JPEG (for easy web use)

    3. Print-ready PDF (ideal for professional printing)

    4. Vector file (EPS) so your design can be scaled to any size without losing quality

For logos and social media graphics, I can also provide multiple sizes optimized for web and print, depending on your needs. If you would like to have the original editable files (such as Photoshop), these can be included upon request, for an additional fee.

Hi, I’m Taylor! I have a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics, with a background in Marketing and Graphic Design. But above all, I would describe myself as a storyteller. As an avid reader, I’ve always appreciated the use of well-executed visuals in the telling a good story (I grew up reading Nancy Drew mysteries…if you know, you know). Thus, much of my academic work bore a distinct illustrative flair, whether it was the final course project of an international marketing class, or a creative lesson plan slideshow for Spanish language students. What I’ve found in my experience is that design is essentially about finding the right nonverbal language to effectively speak to your niche. Fortunately, language happens to be my specialty.

Although I’m currently pursuing a career in marketing, I’m open to freelance graphic design work part-time. So, with coffee mug in hand, I sit at my desk, awaiting new projects to spark my creativity. If you think that could be yours, let’s talk!
